As part of the CROSSNET project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media, we are installing seismological equipment in cultural heritage sites. We would like to express our special gratitude to the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and its Director, Mr Tomislav Petrinec, as well as to the conservators and owners of cultural heritage sites for their successful cooperation in implementing this important part of the project.

The installed accelerograph measures ground acceleration due to earthquakes and the recorded data is also used to determine changes in building characteristics over time. The above is ultimately used in earthquake reconstruction, and in monitoring the condition of the building itself. In addition to the above reasons, the devices are installed for the benefit of the wider community as they are included in the state network of seismometers and accelerometers that monitor the seismicity of the Republic of Croatia.
Continuous data transmission, storage and processing are undertaken by the Seismological Service of the Republic of Croatia, while the CROSSNET project will also enable public access to all data from all stations installed during the project implementation. The collected data is key, among other things, for the creation of a national database of peak ground accelerations, which is a prerequisite for higher-quality seismic hazard maps.
See the interactive map of accelerograph stations here.
