From October 9 to 11, 2023, project associates Anamarija Tremljan and Marko Kapelj participated in the seismological workshop EPOS \u201eNext-Generation Open Seismological Data Sharing for Science and Society\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop, which was attended by about 100 participants, marks a milestone in the coordination and expansion of seismological services at the European level within the EPOS framework and a unique opportunity for scientific and technical exchange within the European seismological community (I<\/a>). The scientific poster “Deploying a FDSN server<\/a>” was presented at the workshop, by Tomislav Fiket, Ines Ivan\u010di\u0107, and the teams of the Seismological Service and CROSSNET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was conceived as an introductory event for the GFZ (German Research Center for Geosciences) \u201eInternational Training Course on Seismology, Seismic Data Analysis, Hazard Assessment and Risk Mitigation\u201c\u00a0which was held in Podgorica in October of 2023. The course aimed to improve earthquake hazard assessment and risk assessment through training in seismological analysis methods. The course provides theoretical foundations and practical training in applied seismology, especially for geoscientists and engineers from developing countries (II<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Various experts presented the following topics from the field of seismology: history of seismology, earthquake statistics and earthquake catalogue data processing, seismogram analysis, earthquake source parameters and wave propagation, engineering seismology, seismic hazard and risk, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the GFZ ITC, we had the opportunity to present the research “Seismological Station Suitability in Baranja Region – Case Study” by Marko Kapelj and “A multidisciplinary approach to selecting potential seismological instrument installation sites in Sisak-Moslavina County, Croatia” by Anamarija Tremljan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the course, field lessons were held in \u200b\u200bKomovi, Virpazar and Rijeka Crnojevi\u0107a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
