On Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday, September 14, 2023, Mr. Arne Schwenk, technical director of K.U.M. Environmental- and Marine Technology GmbH<\/a> held a course about OBS devices (Ocean Bottom Seismometers) for employees of the Seismological Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the CROSSNET project, 10 OBS devices (model NAMMU) were acquired, which will be placed on the bottom of the Adriatic Sea, and 5 sets of additional equipment so that the instruments can be placed more than once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NAMMU model is made of corrosion-resistant titanium and durable syntactic foam, and the frame offers buoyancy in a shock-resistant and robust package that can easily endure the forces of the sea. Constituent parts of the device are a broadband seismometer, a hydrophone and a data logger. NAMMU can be placed up to a depth of 6,000 meters, and the devices can spend up to 36 months on the seabed with additional batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
