Manifestation “Dan i noć na PMF-u” has been held since 2016, and was created by connecting the units that were independently and traditionally held at all seven departments of the PMF: Biology Night, Physics Today, Geophysics Live, Geography Open Day, Open Day geology, Open day of chemistry and Open day of mathematics (Day and night at PMF).
The basic idea is to present science to the general public, especially to preschool children, primary and secondary school students, in an interesting and interactive way. This year’s program, at all departments of the Faculty of Science, consisted of more than 30 lectures, numerous workshops, quizzes and laboratory tours.
At the Department of Geophysics, various seismological and meteorological lectures were held. CROSSNET project associates participated with a presentation called “Why the Earth Shakes”. Along with the presentation, the formation of faults and types of seismic waves was shown in an interactive way using a model of the city.
