Participation in the IUGG conference in Berlin

From July 11 to 18, 2023, we participated in the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) conference in Berlin, which brings together scientists from all over the world in the field of geodesy and geophysics.

As part of the conference, from July 12th to 14th, we attended the “International Training course on ocean bottom and amphibian experiment seismological data”, which took place at Helmholtz Centre Potsdam -German Research Center for Geosciences. We attended interesting lectures about the challenges of setting up the OBS device (Ocean Bottom Seismometer), and the methods of preparing and processing the obtained data. In August 2023, we are expecting a shipment of OBS seismometers (NAMMU by KUM Offshore) that will be placed on the bottom of the Adriatic Sea, so we will soon be able to apply what we have learned.

At the same time, at the IUGG conference, we presented a poster entitled “Implementation of SAW method in GIS for determining the suitable locations for seismological stations in Zadar county”.

The described method was used to estimate the microseismic disturbance in the area of Zadar County for the purpose of setting up new seismological stations. In addition to presenting the poster, we attended lectures and viewed the posters of other colleagues from the field of geophysics!
