On Friday, May 12th, 2023, as part of the popularization of science, the eighth graders of Bukovac Elementary School visited the Seismological Survey of the Republic of Croatia.

Seismologist Tomislav Fiket, dipl. ing. took the students through the Andrija Mohorovičić memorial room and introduced them to his life and scientific work. The memorial room consists of pendulum clocks, a passage instrument, a barograph, a ship’s chronometer, as well as Wiechert’s seismographs from 1907. Project associates on the CROSSNET project held a lecture on the instruments which are used to register earthquakes, the method of locating earthquakes, and interesting field measurements of microseismic noise.

We want to thank the Department of Geophysics, and employees Patrik Jureša, mag. phys.-geophys. and Iva Međugorac, Ph. D. who demonstrated to the students the development, origin and impact of storms, and the museum of meteorological extremes.
